Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news outlet has a TV personality, author, and philanthropist. Following her move to England from Greece when she was 16 She earned an MA in Economics at Cambridge University. She was the first student from outside the UK to become the president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. As a conservative syndicated blogger when she graduated, she was able to be a voice of the Huffington Post. Her popularity allowed her to persuade a number of celebrities to contribute their opinion regarding current affairs, the political and culture. Arianna gained fame in 2003 after she decided to contest for a non-partisan position in the California recall election to replace the Governor Davis. Arianna was also part of an initiative in Detroit that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as The most influential women in the media, achieving 12th place on the list. The same year the Guardian included her in the top 100 of media lists. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was named president of this media group. The acquisition included a number of AOL products at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was born to Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli, who are both journalist and management consultants. Although she was a close friend to her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother which shaped her character. She displayed leadership qualities throughout her childhood. In her 16th year, she returned to the UK for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the college debating Society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. She graduated in 1972 with an advanced degree in Economics. After the graduation ceremony, she was a journalist and TV host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
